LEAVERS ball: The Brighton Hill Community College Leavers’ Ball was judged a great success. Held at Oakley Hall as usual, the ex-students arrived in a variety of vehicles.

Stretched limos and horse-drawn carriages were to the fore. I even saw a Routemaster bus and one lucky young man arriving in a Ferrari.

CELTS and Romans: Hatch Warren juniors have been investigating our ancestors and each class visited the archaeological dig at Silchester this month.

As well as touring the site and surrounding area, the children were able to meet some of the archaeologists and try some of their techniques.

SUMMER fun lunch: The popular event aimed at Hatch Warren’s young people takes place on the community field next Thursday.

It is always a good start to the summer holidays and entry is free.

Bring your own picnic and sit on the grass.

Entertainment includes bouncy castles and side shows. It starts at 11am and goes on till 2pm. The Community Association is always on the lookout for volunteers for this popular event.

Please contact them if you might be able to help, if only for an hour. Please phone 811262.

HATCH Warren juniors: Year 6 pupils are preparing for a play called Nathan’s Nightmare which will be performed twice to parents tomorrow.
