PUBLIC lectures: At the church throughout July. The next one is on Saturday at 1pm. The speaker is Dr Rob Hosfield, “Tracing Earliest Humans”. The second lecture at 2.30pm is with Caroline Lawrence and is entitled “Roman Mysteries”. The third lecture is on Monday at 1pm with Professor Steve Mitten and is about “Recent Discoveries in the Near East and Origins of Farming”. Tea and coffee will be served after each talk.

GUIDED walk: On Saturday, starting at the Plough, Little London, at 10am, organised by Hants Wildlife Trust. Come and see the butterflies and enjoy the forest. Well-behaved dogs also welcome. Back by noon in time for lunch.

CRICKET: Silchester CC and visitors Rotherfield Park braved last Saturday’s inclement weather in the only league game played in their division of the Hampshire League.

Rotherfield scored 151 all out, Ben Neenan taking 4 for 32. In reply, Silchester were bowled out for 104.The match was sponsored by Rowberry Morris, Solicitors, Tadley.
