PALM Sunday: Was wet and wonderful!

The Romans arrived from all directions, but the weather beat them for the first time ever. The band could not use their instruments but the intrepid still walked!

The service was held in the church and everyone managed to get in, albeit some standing, squashed in corners. The collection was for Christian Aid.

DEDICATION Service: The Bishop of Basingstoke, The Right Reverend Trevor Willmott, led a very moving service to open the new extension, complete with a "first flush" of the toilet.

We were honoured to also welcome the Duke and Duchess of Wellington, Lord Douro and the Mayor and Mayoress of Basingstoke and Deane.

HOPE: The second event, following the very successful one in January, will be held on Easter Saturday, at 7pm, in Tadley Common Methodist Church. This is open to all, young and old.

EASTER services in Silchester: Today (Maundy Thursday), there is the stripping of the altar, with Communion, at 7.30pm, in the parish church.

Tomorrow (Good Friday), there will be meditation with music for one hour at 2pm.

On Easter Day, there will be a sunrise service at 6am and, at 10am, sung Communion with the distribution of Easter eggs.

At the Methodist Church, there will be a Good Friday service at 9.30am and, on Easter Day, a breakfast event at 9.15am followed by Holy Communion.

SILCHESTER Association: Invites you to "Walk the Fun Run" on Monday, starting from the Calleva Arms at 10am.
