QUIZ success: The fundraising quiz at the Beggarwood centre a couple of weeks ago raised around £1,000 which will go towards providing services and the community cafe at Beggarwood. Watch out for details of the next quiz in December.

VOLUNTEERS needed: Old Down and Beggarwood Wildlife Group is looking for volunteers to help with projects on Beggarwood Park. If you enjoy the outdoors and would like to help maintain and improve the area please contact the group for further details. By email at odandbwd@gmail.com.

BROADMERE Road: After a very long sequence of discussions between various developers and the county council it seems that at least part of Broadmere Road may be on the way to being handed over for adoption. The section of the road which feeds into the centre and shops is now part of a legal discussion which will hopefully enable it to be adopted and then become eligible for some parking controls.

FIREWORKS: Tickets for the firework spectacular at the Hatch Warren Community Centre on November 3 are selling fast. Don’t miss out on the best display for miles around, snap up your tickets while you still can.

POWERLEAGUE: Many local residents are concerned about the potential demise of the Powerleague facility at Brighton Hill school. It is used actively by many local players and young people. I have asked the council to look into this urgently to se if there is anything we can do to help. There is also a petition at change.org/p/powerleague-prevent-the-closure-of-powerleague-basingstoke.
