SHERFIELD and District Gardening Club: The group met last Monday and their guest speaker was Marina Christopher.
A spokesman said: “Marina comes from Phoenix Plants, near Medstead, Alton, and her talk was about perennials.
“As an organic gardener, her talk explained how nature has its own way of dealing with pests. Everyone was enthralled by her talk, which was illustrated with some samples. We had around 35 members at the meeting.”
VILLAGE hall: The village hall is closed during August for refurbishment, but the Liddell Hall is still open for bookings.
UNVEILING of a centenary memorial stone to Captain John Aiden Liddell, VC, MC: It will be at 11am tomorrow, all are invited to the area opposite The Four Horseshoes. Please be in place by 10.45am.
The road will be closed between the village hall entrance and the Bramley Road crossroads from 10am to 12.30pm. Guests expected to attend include MP Ranil Jayawardena, the Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane and Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire Nigel Atkinson.
