FIREWORKS night fun: There was the usual very large crowd of villagers and visitors, and Silchester Association put on a very well organised event.
Many pumpkins were judged, hot soup and other goodies consumed and a brilliant firework display.
REMEMBRANCE Services: This Sunday, the church service will start at 9.30am, to allow the congregation to get to the War Memorial by 10.50am for the service, with the sounding of the Last Post at 11am. On Tuesday, at 11am, the children from Silchester School will lay their poppies and remember the names on the memorial. All are welcome to attend either or both these services.
OPEN days at school: On November 13, at 9.30am, and November 26, from 1.30pm, this is for children due to start school in September 2015. Kindly let the school know if you are coming.
AIR Guitars and Reptiles: The Reptiles will play a gig in the hall on Saturday, 15, with extra music by the Mayflys. There will be an air guitar competition and a chilli supper. Tickets £12.50 from The Calleva Arms.
