IT WAS a landmark of the Basingstoke business landscape – but now it is no more.
The large and distinctive red Linde Material Handling sign, fixed to one of the forklift truck manufacturer’s redundant factory buildings has come down.
The sign, which was on the Houndmills factory, overlooked the Brookvale area of the town and could be seen from as far away as Farleigh Wallop.
Part of the Linde site is currently being cleared as part of a 12-week contract so that Bowmer & Kirkland can build a 680,000 sq ft £100million distribution centre for Sainsbury’s.
