FASHION retailer H&M is set to open its new kids store in Basingstoke’s Festival Place.

The company’s second store in the shopping centre will open for business at 11am on Thursday, May 24, with the first 100 customers receiving a £5 H&M gift card to spend.

Magnus Olsson, country manager H&M UK & Ireland, said: “We’re delighted to be expanding our presence in Basingstoke, enabling us to bring our customers a wider selection of H&M’s children’s clothing in its own space.

“This new store complements our existing location, making it possible to find a broad and varied range of high- quality family fashion at the best prices at Festival Place.”

The new stand-alone H&M Kids store will offer the full range of H&M’s children’s wear collections for girls and boys, in sizes from baby up to 14 years.

Occupying more than 550 square metres of retail space, the store will employ 15 members of staff. The current store, also in Festival Place, will then carry only collections for women, men and teenagers.

Mr Olsson said the UK continues to be one of the H&M Group’s most important expansion markets in 2012. It opened its first UK store in 1976, and now has 211.
