BASINGSTOKE’S MP has visited the office of an employee benefits provider.
Maria Miller visited Unum in Basing View, where she was met by chief executive Peter O’Donnell and members of the senior management team.
The company, whose HQ is based in the United States, has offices in Surrey as well as 300 people in its Basingstoke offices.
Mrs Miller was briefed on the company’s inclusion and diversity strategy, its work to address the gender pay gap, and its emphasis on corporate social responsibility, which enables Unum staff to support charities and voluntary organisations.
Maria said: “It was good to meet with Unum and hear more about their business and the support they give companies and individuals to return to work after illness.
“I was really interested in the company’s commitment to closing the gender pay gap, and the importance they attach to flexible working practices and gender equality in the workplace.”
