AS PART of a university's bid to help boost business in Basingstoke, a breakfast network event is being held.

The University of Winchester is currently involved in various projects in Basingstoke aimed at helping individuals to develop the skills required to meet the needs of employers and the local economy.

The university, in partnership with Basingstoke Together, is holding a breakfast event at the Anvil at 8am on Tuesday, 6 November.

The event is designed to be an opportunity for employers to discuss their needs and for the university to highlight what it offers, and can offer, to employers in the private, public and third sectors.

Also covered at the event will be information on the construction of a multi-million pound major building project at the university and its developing programme portfolio.

Another subject being covered is work-based learning through higher degree apprenticeships.

Jo Frazer-Reid, projects coordinator at Basingstoke Together, said: “We are thrilled to be working with the University of Winchester and providing the opportunity for Basingstoke businesses to learn more about degree apprenticeships and the benefits which they can bring to employees and employers alike.

"The event will be a great chance for organisations to discover how they can develop staff and invest in the future of their businesses”.

Professor Pru Marriott, dean of faculty of business, law and sport at the university will host the event.
