ENGLAND’S success in the World Cup has inspired more children to take up football, according to the owners of a new business which is encouraging young people to play the sport.

Cameron Styles and brothers Harvey and Ben Richardson have joined forces to launch a new football coaching business for children.

HBR Coaching, based in Andover, offers children the chance to really develop their skills on the pitch, with one-to-one tuition and group sessions available for all ages.

Cameron, 18, who has completed Level 1 and 2 football coaching qualifications, said: “We want to increase participation in football and also give children with learning disabilities a chance to play.”

He added: “We noticed a real lack of participation in football locally and we have all played at different levels. Kids don’t seem to be developing their skills, just playing the game, whereas we work on developing them as players and honing in on their skills so they can improve.”

Both Cameron and Harvey played for Basingstoke Football Academy and also attended college together.

Cameron, who has been playing football since he was three-years-old, said: “I have always had a passion for it. We also focus on the nutrition side of it, we want to educate kids about nutrition because if you don’t eat the right food you won’t be able to reach your full potential.”

He said the best food to eat before a match is basic and complex carbohydrates, such as pasta which will provide a slow release of energy, along with something sugary to give a boost of energy before a game, and protein afterwards.

The trio have been publicising their new business at local events, and said so far lots of people have shown interest, particularly following the World Cup.

Cameron said: “The England players have similar backgrounds to the children we are working with. They have had to graft and work hard to get to where they are and it shows that anything is possible. It shows that you can get there if you work hard, you don’t have to have lots of money behind you, and that gives them hope.

“England’s success in the World Cup has definitely helped encourage more children to take up the sport.”
