RECENT news reports have been full of the death of the annual tax return.

HMRC say that by early 2016 about 10 million taxpayers will have access to their individual ‘tax accounts’ and this will increase to 50 million taxpayers and small businesses by 2020.

Although this will be a great relief for many taxpayers with relatively simple tax affairs, it is likely that the 2014/15 tax year will be dealt with as normal – so don’t start throwing out your paperwork just yet.

Don’t forget, the 2014/15 tax year ends on April 5, 2015, so why not start preparing everything now and get it all out of the way in April.
