9:20am Thursday 29th April 2010 in Gazette Video By David Connop Price
WITH one week left until polling day the candidates vying to be Basingstoke’s MP have been pitching for your vote. The Gazette invited them to look down the barrel of a camera and explain why you should vote for them.
And we quizzed them over issues that have made headlines in north Hampshire in the last twelve months – the economy, new homes, travellers, cleaning up politics, tightening health budgets and school closure. The responses demonstrated a range of agreement and disagreement between the politicians.
We spoke to UKIP candidate Stella Howell, Liberal Democrat candidate John Shaw, Conservative candidate Maria Miller, Independent candidate Stephen Saul and Labour Paul Harvey, representing parliamentary candidate Funda Pepperell, who was unable to take part due to ill-health.
