BASINGSTOKE Town manager Terry Brown believes three of next  four games will decide if his young guns will finish in the top half of the Southern League Premier Division table.

They are up against what look like the top three sides in the Division and it all starts with a trip to second placed King’s Lynn on Saturday.

Then on Tuesday night, they travel to sixth placed Slough, who do have between five and seven games in hand on the teams above them.

This is then followed, two weeks on Saturday with the leaders Hereford making the trip to Hampshire.

Brown said: “At the moment we have 14 wins and 14 losses, as I see it the next three games as going a long way to deciding our final position. Some good results will see us end up in the top half, which I think will be a great achievement for this club.”

Saturday’s trip to King’s Lynn is Town longest of the season and Brown is really hoping the weather allows his side to go to Kings Lynn to avoid a long trek on a Tuesday night.

Centre half Shane Hollamby is unavailable for the trip, so Dan Bayliss will partner Guri Demuria in the centre of defence. Midfielder Michael Atkinson is back after illness, which forced him out of Saturday’s win over Hitchin and Sam Smart is also back from injury.

King’s Lynn are one of the few sides to win at the Camrose this season and Brown said: “They are one of the best sides we have played this season and beat us last time by the odd goal. I felt we played well on Saturday against Hitchin and if we had our shooting boots on we would have scored a few more, but it was great to get a clean sheet.”

Brown will be hoping for more home rule on Tuesday night, when one of his former club’s are in town and adding extra slice to the game is the Slough side has four former Basingstoke players in Chris Flood, Nathan Smart, Simon Dunn and Manny Williams.

Brown said: “Slough is going to be another testing game, but we have playing well at home this season.”
