BASINGSTOKE Town and Hartley Wintney will both be chasing FA Trophy glory on Saturday afternoon, in the first round of the competition.

Town travel to fellow Southern League Premier Division side Dorchester, while Hartley are also away at Swindon Supermarine in all Division One clash.

The Dragons had a dress rehearsal for their contest with Dorchester on Tuesday night at the Camrose which ended 1-1.

A game saw Michael Atkinson, Dan Bayliss and Ashleigh Artwell all suffer injuries and the trio are now doubtful for Saturday.

Town manager Terry Brown is hopeful midfielder Sam Deadfield will return and said: “All our injuries are our ball players, so I am hoping Sam will be fit for Saturday. I am sure it will be another close game at Dorchester.”

Meanwhile, Hartley will be hoping to make some more history, after the club won their first ever game in this competition in the last round with a 1-0 victory at Slimbridge.

However, the side will have to pick themselves up from their worst defeat of the season going down 6-1 to Hayes and Yeading on Tuesday night and will be without new suspended skipper Dean Stow for the trip to Swindon.

Hartley joint manager Daniel Brownlie said: “Our focus is to ensure that we deliver a performance, if we do that we have every chance. We need to improve from our last game and a reaction will be expected on Saturday.

“It’s another great moment for the club and another reminder of how far we’ve come in such a short space of time.

"That said, they’ll be no parade, we won’t remember the moment fondly if we don’t perform. We want to progress and we’ll do everything we can to make that happen.”
