THE Basingstoke Bison are now just two games away from lifting the final piece of silverware this season - the English Premier League play-off crown.

First up for the Herd is a mouth watering clash with the reigning league champions the Telford Tigers in the second semi-final on Saturday (5pm) at Coventry.

The winners will face either the Guildford Flames or the Milton Keynes Lightning in Sunday's final at 4pm.

The Bison go to Coventry on the back of an impressive run, of just one loss in their last 13 games and secured top spot in their play-off group, after wins over MK and Swindon.

The Herd faced the Tigers six times during the season losing the series 4-2, but the Bison did win two of the last three meetings.

Adding extra spice to the game is the fact the Herd will have to beat their former shot stopper Jon Baston to book a place in Sunday’s finals.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Bison head coach Doug Sheppard said: “Everyone is buzzing at the moment and I am expecting a really good game with Telford. We are playing well at the moment and two more wins will give us the trophy.”
