TWO goals in the last 10 minutes proved to be the undoing of Basingstoke Town, as they lost 2-1 at title chasing King's Lynn on Tuesday night.

Basingstoke boss Terry Brown made two changes to the side which lost at home to Slough the previous Saturday, with Tim Wohlfiel and Shane Hollamby returning in place of Tom Leggett and Michael Atkinson.

However, unfortunately for Town, Hollamby had to be replaced by Sam Deadfield just after the 20 minute mark.

The first real chance of the game fell to the home side, as Simon Lappin's free-kick crashed off the crossbar.

The visitors replied and sub Deadfield scored his first goal since coming back from a long injury lay off after 36 minutes.

After the break, the Linnets turned up the pressure and Adrian Parker was denied by Colm McAdden in the town, Soon after the home side had another great chance as Ryan Fryatt's header flashed across the goal.

Deadfield then tried to get a second for Town, but his shot went over bar.

Dan Bayliss then cleared the ball of the line.

The home side finally scored the equaliser in the 83th minute, when a shot deflected in off Town defender Guri Demuria.

They then grabbed the winner two minutes later from Cameron King.

This weekend, Town are on their travels again this time to Cambridgeshire to face St Ives and then on Monday have a Hampshire derby game with Farnborough.
