NEW signing Callum Bunting scored his first hat-trick for Basingstoke Town, as they cruised into the second round of the Southern League Cup winning at local rivals Fleet Town 6-2.

The visitors made six changes to the side which beat Redditch on Saturday, with Aaron Holt, Tim Wohlfiel, Guri Demuria, Jordan Goater, Dan Collier and Bunting all coming into the starting line-up.

The Dragons took just three minutes to open the scoring, as Sam Deadfield and Ben Wright combined and Bunting slotted home.

The visitors doubled their advantage on 18 minutes, as Wright was found in the box and the striker did the rest.

The only negative on the night came soon after, as midfielder Deadfield limped off and was replaced by Jack McKnight.

Basingstoke added a third goal, three minutes before the break. Bunting was felled in the box and the new striker converts from the spot.

For the start of the second half, George Bennett replaced Dan Bayliss in defence and on 53 minutes Fleet pulled a goal back thanks to Danilo Cadete.

The visitors hit back as Bunting on the hour, completed his hat-trick as he fired home.

Then two goals in the space of a minute, saw Jack McKnight score and then a great cross from Ashleigh Artwell is headed home by Dan Collier to make it 6-1.

With a minute left, Patrik Ruzicka scored a late consolation for the home side.

This Saturday, Town are back in league action, when Banbury are the visitors to the Camrose, with the admission for the game being a fiver for adults and free for under-16s.
