BASINGSTOKE Town will face Southern League Premier Division rivals Farnborough in the final of O’Neills Invitation Cup this afternoon (3.30pm) in Farnborough.

This was after both won their semi-final games on Saturday against Division One opposition.

Farnborough ran out 5-0 winners against Hartley Wintney, while the Dragons roared to a 6-1 success over Fleet Town.

This was despite going a goal down in the third minute from Graham Purdy.

Town hit back to lead 3-1 at the break, after Shane Hollamby scored his first goal for the team, with a header from a Ben Wright corner.

A super goal gave the Dragons the lead as Ashleigh Artwell fed Aaron Jarvis down the right channel and his cross was converted by Wright.

Charlie McCann with a header then made it 3-1 at half-time.

Basingstoke extended their lead further after the interval, as Jarvis was felled in the area by Fleet’s Bobby Dormer and Wright calmly slotted away the penalty.

McCann with another header made it 5-1, before Will Shaw’s cross was put into his own net by a Fleet defender to complete the scoring.

Before the final today, there is a third and fourth place play-off game between Hartley and Fleet, which kicks-off at 1pm.
