DORCHESTER Town certainly stole a point away from the Ark Cancer Charity Stadium on Monday afternoon, after a string of great saves from Shane Murphy denied Basingstoke Town a victory.

A disappointed Dragons' boss Terry Brown said: "It was a frustrating as we created enough chances to win two or three games today and they have had only a couple of shots on target."

The home side were forced into one change for the game with defender Joe Gater suspended.

So this meant Matt Partridge moved back to the home defence and Charlie Kennedy returned from injury to play in midfield.

The game got off to the worst possible start for the home side as in the second minute, a diagonal ball from Sol Ayunga behind George Bennett, allowed Tom Blair to run in and slot the ball past Alex Tokarczyk.

The Dragons looked to roar back and just a minute later a free-kick wide on the left from Nana Owusu, saw Kennedy just unable to touch the ball home at the far post.

The home side continued to pressure with Owusu causing all sorts of problems and striker Aaron Jarvis running his socks off as chances were blocked or went wide.

Tokarczyk then was called into action to save low down from Blair and then on 25 minutes Dorchester's Jason Brookes cleared off the line from Kennedy, after Owusu shot was blocked.

Soon after, Jarvis turned provider for Deadfield and Murphy produced a nice save.

The home side's next chance came just after the half hour, as Michael Atkinson run down the right saw his cross headed onto the roof of the net by Deadfield.

For the start of the second half Brown made a change to his forward line as Romone Rose took over from Aaron Redford and certainly added more bite to the front line.

Just a minute after the re-start a point blank saw from Murphy denied Jarvis from Deadfield's cross.

Soon after, David Ray header from Deadfield's corner was scooped out from under the bar.

The Dragons then scored their deserved equaliser as Deadfield ran across the box, before on the turn firing home with a low shot to make it 1-1 after 57 minutes.

Not content with one goal, the home side continued to push and on the hour mark another superb save denied Deadfield from Atkinson's cross.

Jarvis and Rose then both tested Murphy, before Deadfield curled an excellent shot just wide of the target.

The home side really did enough to get a deserved win.

However, in the end if was not to be and in the fifth minute of added on time, Jarvis and Rose both had shots blocked as the contest finished 1-1.

The Dragons are next in action on Saturday, when they travel to ninth placed Kettering.
