BASINGSTOKE Town Ladies produced their best comeback of the season, as they scored three times in the final 15 minutes to draw 4-4 at St Nicholas, in the Women's Premier League South West Division One.

This was despite the Ladies taking the lead on five minutes, after Helen Ogle ran through on goal and scored.

The home side drew level five minutes later and then took the lead on 12 minutes, even if Erin Davis-Donne produced an excellent save, but could do nothing about the rebound.

The visitors tried to get back in the game with Michelle Kimber going close with a volley from eight yards out before the break.

Just two minutes into the second half, St Nicholas scored their third of the game, from a goal mouth scramble following a corner.

It then became 4-1 on 69 minutes thanks a free-kick.

However, the Town Ladies never gave-up and six minutes later, Ogle went down the left flank and her cross was put in by a home defender, with Katie Randell ready to pounce.

With 10 minutes left, a quick counter attack saw Ogle and Randell combined, before Randell scored one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

The Town Ladies were still not finished and five minutes later, Ogle was fouled several times in the area as the referee tried to play on, but in the end had no choice and awarded a penalty.

Jasmine Meichle stepped up and saw her spot kick saved, but she bundled home the follow up.

Now with the score at 4-4 the visitors still had time to win the game with Ogle having a one-on-one saved and Jenna Macbeth saw her header the ball just wide from closed range.

Five minutes into added time and the home side nearly scored twice as they struck both posts in the space of 30 seconds.

After the game manager Rob Quilter said: "This was a very open game, I felt we could have scored at any moment even when we were down by several goals.

"The girls showed their great character by staying focused and could have won it at the end."

The previous Thursday, the Ladies lost 3-1 at Southampton Saints with their only goal coming from Ogle as she ran in behind the defence from a Kimber through ball.

Tonight, the Ladies are away at leaders Chichester City and then on Sunday travel to basement side Exeter City.

The side still have three home games left at the Camrose on May 10, 14 and 21.
