BASINGSTOKE Town Ladies are up to third in the Southern League Premier Division after beating Oxford City Ladies 2-0 on Sunday.

Hosts Basingstoke took the lead after just four minutes, Justine Mosley’s shot deflecting into the net off an Oxford defender for an own-goal.

Town goalkeeper Erin Davis made a good save to keep her side ahead, while Charlie Fry, Sam Mosley and Justine Mosley all went close to adding to the home side’s lead before half-time.

Lindsey Beverley, Sam Mosley and Lianne Hill all had second-half efforts saved, but they put the game beyond doubt late-on, Beverley firing home from a free-kick.

Town will be looking to reach the final of the Southern League Chairman’s Cup on Sunday, when they host Marlow Ladies in the last four at Brighton Hill.

The reserves will be in action at the same venue, hosting Tadley Calleva in Hampshire League Division Three.
