BASINGSTOKE Town have a tough opening home game of 2018, as new Southern League Premier leaders Kettering are the visitors to the Camrose.

Town will be hoping they can pick the Poppies pocket and continue their impressive form at home, but face a side who have won their last three games, including an a1-0 win in the top of the table clash with King’s Lynn last time out.

The odds looked stacked against the home side with midfielders Dan Collier and Sam Deadfield, along with defenders Shane Hollomby and George Bennett all injured.

Boss Terry Brown is hoping Sam Argent will be fit to play, having not risked him in Town’s 4-3 loss on New Year’s Day at Farnborough.

Looking ahead to Saturday’s game Brown said: “They are a massive physical side and we are young ream, but I am sure the boys will be up for the challenge.”

On Tuesday night (7.45pm), Town entertain Division One side Marlow in the Southern League Cup.
