THE pending departure of Basingstoke Town chairman Rafi Razzak and the launch of Plan B, the strategic review for the club, has raised a number of questions which cannot be answered yet.

A point acknowledged by Paul Davison, who is behind Plan B.and he said this week: “Of course I understand that some fans want solutions now, and they may think that simply putting the club up for sale will provide the solution, but it won’t.”

“Attracting another Rafi is only half the story. What is needed now is a period of clear thinking, with a proper plan that can deliver the significant capital investment we need.”

He added: “Before sitting down with any new investors, we have some serious questions to answer, such as where do we want to take the club in the future, and, as a result, what facilities will we need?

“This will tell us how much new investment is required within a detailed plan, so we can have meaningful discussions with potential investors.”

He believes good work now will save time later and make a deal more likely.

Davison said: “Our preferred solution would be to move to a site we can upgrade, as we would be able to build new facilities quickly, satisfying our needs for many years to come.

“An obvious issue is agreeing exactly how big a stadium we need. It won’t be as big as the one we proposed last year, but we still need new facilities for the team and fans, as well as our Academy and offices for the smooth running of the club.”

New pages on the Town website will be launched this week providing more details about Plan B, helping to keep fans informed of progress.
