BASINGSTOKE Town young chargers will be looking to take another notable scalp, when they travel to Southern League Premier Division leaders Leamington on Saturday.

A fortnight ago, the Dragons ended Slough’s reign at the top with a 4-1 home victory.

Then last weekend, they opened their FA Trophy campaign in fine style with another impressive 4-1 success at Staines.

The victory earned them another away tie, to fellow Premier Division outfit Dorchester Town, a week on Saturday.

However, before they focus on this, first up is Leamington.

They will be smarting, after suffering a Trophy exit, their only defeat in eight games in October.

The mood in the Dragons camp is good and at the moment they are happy to slay anyone.

The team’s injury crisis seems to be coming to an end, which will give manager Terry Brown a nice headache ahead of the game, but he is most likely to stick with a winning formula.

Town boss Brown said: “We have had a full week of training for the time since I can remember which is nice. We are playing well at the moment and more players are returning from injury which is great to see.

“We know Leamington are a good side, but we will travel there hoping to get something out of the game.”

Returning injured trio Matt Partridge, Tamille Roache and Dan Collier were all set to play in an Academy game yesterday evening.

On Tuesday night (7.45pm), Town are in Southern League Cup action at home to Fleet Town.

Brown said: “I will be looking to rotate the squad and this game gives me the ideal opportunity to do this.”
