BASINGSTOKE Town Ladies recorded a quick early season double over visiting Cheltenham, as they followed up last weekend's cup victory with 1-0 league success at the Ark Cancer Charity Stadium.

The home side came out of the blocks quickly, as Katie Randall's 25-yard shot hit the top of the crossbar in the first minute.

Town Ladies then called the visiting goalkeeper into action, as Helen Ogle and Emma Lawrence were denied.

With 10 minutes left in the first half, the home side were denied twice from corners as first Lawrence and Ayla Truelove had shots cleared off the line.

The Town Ladies' winner came five minutes after the interval, as Ogle took on the Cheltenham full back and centre back and squared the ball for Randell to bundle home.

On the 70 minute mark, Cheltenham had their best chance with long range shot, which was well saved by goalkeeper Erin Davis-Donne.

After the game, manager Robert Quilter said: "We dominated the game, having large spells of possession and creating a lot of chances. It was good to see how confident the girls were in keeping the ball and picking the right moments to attack."

They face Maidenhead away in the league tomorrow night and their next home game on October 2 (2pm) against Shanklin Ladies (2pm) and then on October 5 (7.45pm) also at home to Maidenhead.
