FA CUP fever comes to Basingstoke this weekend as the Dragons start their campaign with a home tie on Saturday against Bemerton Heath Harlequins.

Due to Town’s relegation they start in first qualifying round hoping like last season to make the first round proper when they put up a brave fight at Cambridge United.

To reach the same stage this year, Terry Brown boys will have to win four matches and first up is a visit from a side in the Wessex League Premier Division.

The side hail from just outside Salisbury and are currently seventh after Tuesday’s night’s draw against Amesbury a re-match of their opening FA Cup tie which they won 3-1.

Town boss Terry Brown is looking forward to Saturday and said: “It is a massive game for us and I want to see us bounce back after losing to Frome. We want to do well in this competition and they will come here looking to produce an upset.”

Returning to the squad for the game is livewire striker Aaron Jarvis after being unavailable for the past two games, captain David Ray is 50/50 for the game, while Tamille Roache and Richie Whittingham are still not full fit. Definitely ruled out are Ashleigh Antwell and Charlie Kennedy, but both should be back for the next league game.

Brown said: “I would love to have Razor (David Ray) back for the game and slot him in the centre of the defence.”
