BASINGSTOKE Town will have a wait a little while longer to see who they will face in the quarter-finals of the Hampshire Senior Cup, after Totton and Eling game against Horndean was postponed on Tuesday night.
The Wessex League outfits will now try again this coming Tuesday with the tie switched to Horndean’s Five Heads Park, as per Hampshire Cup rules following two postponements due to a waterlogged pitch at Totton’s ground Little Testwood Farm.
Switching game will make it even tougher on Wessex League Division One side Totton and Eling to cause an upset against the current Premier Division leaders.
Totton are 14th in the second string of the Wessex League, having won just four out of the 17 league games, but did knock out Premier Division Andover in the second round of the competition, after a penalty shoot-out at their Little Testwood Farm ground Horndean will now be favourites to face the Dragons in a game which is scheduled for the middle of January at the Camrose.
The south Hampshire side are having a great season in the Premier Division and are three points clear of title favourites Salisbury.
They have lost just twice in 18 starts and have won their last 10 straight league games.
There cup form is not so good as they having suffered defeats to Sholing, Portland and Barnstaple in various competitions.
The full Hampshire Senior Cup quarter-final draw is as follows Havant & Waterlooville v AFC Portchester, Basingstoke Town v Totton & Eling or Horndean, Winchester City v Eastleigh, Fleet Town v Lymington.
