BASINGSTOKE Town return to National League South action on Saturday with a trip to Bishop's Stortford.

This is Town's new boss Michael Gilkes first league game in charge, after his first game in the hot seat saw a 2-1 defeat in the FA Trophy at Havant.

Gilkes is looking for his side to snap their current losing streak which has seen them loss their last six games.

Gilkes said: "The main priority for us to win at the moment. How we do it is not really important, we just have to get the three points.

"The players are fully aware of this and want to turn things around and I am sure we can do this starting on Saturday."

Defender Tom Bird is back from suspension and it is hoped Louis Soares will also be fit to play.

Bishop's Stortford snapped their own recent losing run with a 3-0 victory over fellow National League South side Hemel Hempstead in the Herts Senior Cup, this was after a very disappointing 3-0 exit from the Trophy at the hands of Tilbury.

When these sides met at the Camrose in the middle of August honours were even as the game ended 1-1 as Chris Flood scored an excellent late equaliser.

This was after Bishop’s Stortford took the lead in the first 45 minutes from Michael Thalassitis.

On Tuesday night, Town are on their travels again to face Blackfield and Langley in the third round of the Hampshire Senior third round.

They are seventh in the Wessex League Premier Division having lost in their last two outings they are away to Team Solent this weekend, before they focus on causing a giant killing when the Dragons visit three days later.
