BASINGSTOKE Town start their quest to get off the bottom of the National League South, with a trip to Concord Rangers on Saturday (3pm).

The Dragons have yet to win away this season, but will be hoping to build on their excellent performance last weekend in the FA Cup first round tie at Cambridge United.

The visitors certainly deserved something out of the game with sub Liam Enver-Marum hitting the post and also having the ball in the net, which was disallowed.

The defeat ended Town's FA Cup adventure this season, which had seen them beat Slough and Chelmsford City 4-2 and Torquay United 3-0.

They will now hope to transfer this form into league and Town manager Jason Bristow is backing his side to do this.

Bristow said: "We played well in the cup. I see no reason why we cannot play the same way in the league and get the points we need to start our climb away from the bottom of the table."

The trip to Concord, who are 15th in the table, looks a tough one on paper as they have won two of their last three games, including a 3-0 win at Weston-super-Mare last weekend.

Only Jamie Brown is injured for the trip and looking ahead to the game, Bristow said: "They have had a mixed start to the season, but have been doing well lately, so they will not make it easy for us."

On Tuesday night, Town have their longest league trip of the season, as they travel to Cornwall to face Truro City who are seventh in the table at the moment.

Looking ahead to the trip, Bristow said: “They are a big physical side so it will be bruising battle, but one we want to win."
