TOMAS Hiadlovsky recorded his first ever Basingstoke Bison shut-out as he back stopped the Herd to a 5-0 victory over the visiting Sheffield Steeldogs.

The Slovak shot stopper turned away all 13 shots he faced on the evening, while his opposite number Dalibor Sedlar had a really busy night as he faced 48 shots He was first beaten in the third minute, as Tomas Karpov netted from man of the match Alan Lack.

The lead was then doubled on the powerplay after Karpov netted his second of the game.

The only goal of the second session was scored by Ciaran Long assisted by line mates Joe Greener and Stuart Mogg.

With 10 minutes to go Lack added the Herd’s fourth, after good work from Ryan Watt.

A powerplay in the final minute, saw the Bison complete the 5-0 win as Greener scored and Karpov picked up his fourth point of the evening.

The victory took the Bison back to the top of the English Premier League, after leaders Milton Keynes Lightning lost at home 4-2 to the Guildford Flames.

Next up forth Herd is a trip to Guildford tonight (6pm), where a point would book them a place in the semi-finals of the EPL Cup.
