THE players put in a good performance on Tuesday at Maidenhead United, with the three points gained there making the point we picked up at St Albans on Saturday a really good one.

We controlled the game against Maidenhead throughout and scored some fantastic goals.

The team played controlled football and defended exceptionally well to limit the home side to very few chances.

Saturday’s game was a tough one against a very well organised St Albans side, who made the most of home advantage by taking advantage of the slope in the first half.

Any team will do well to get three points there this season.

We now face three home games where we must continue to pick up points if we are to maintain a play-off spot.

These games will be extremely tough against opposition who are fighting for points themselves.

The squad is very competitive at the moment. Players are returning from injury and putting themselves in the frame to play.

Once again, it’s great to have so many options, not only in personnel but also in terms of formations and tactics.

We held our first trial for next season’s academy on Tuesday. There was plenty of promise and the standard was very high, raising the bar for the remaining trials.

If you are interested in registering for a place in the next trials, they are being held during the Easter holidays. Please check the website for more information.

We were all very proud to see Joe McDonnell, an academy graduate, make his Football League debut for AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.

It’s fantastic for the current crop of academy players to see somebody who started off here plying his trade in the Football League.

Regards,

Jason
