BASINGSTOKE Strikers disabled football team enjoyed an impressive 18-8 victory over visiting Portsmouth in a seven-a-side game at The Soccer AM Stadium.

Captain Conway Marshall led the goalscoring, while goalkeeper Barry Bridges also had a good game. Ivonne Rigby, who is currently the only female player at the club, made her home debut, as did Jamie Mackrill and Thomas Davis.

Strikers players Jamie Ward and Rory Matthias have been in action for the Hampshire representative team, Victory Hants, in the first round tournament of the FA Disability Cup.

They were unable to prevent Hampshire losing 4-0 to a strong Sussex team, but both Ward and Matthias were on the scoresheet as they drew 2-2 with AFC Bournemouth.

Strikers are currently training indoors at The Vyne School, with sessions getting under way at 10am on Saturdays, while the club is also on the lookout for a volunteer organiser and a volunteer welfare officer.

Anyone interested in playing for the club should contact coach Stuart Race on 07783 401475, while people who would like to put their name forward for the volunteer posts should contact chairman Mike Stockwell on 07425 141739.
