THERE was cause for a double celebration at The Soccer AM Stadium last week, as Basingstoke Town completed a clean sweep of the Vanarama Conference South monthly awards.

Dragons boss Jason Bristow was named manager of the month, while striker Chris Flood picked up the player of the month award.

Bristow was honoured after leading Basingstoke to the top of the table with three wins in three league games.

He said: “It’s a privilege to receive this on behalf of the club.

“It’s the players who go out there and get the results, so this award goes to them and the staff as well.”

Flood scored twice during October to take his goals tally for the season to nine, with the awards panel commenting on his consistency over the last two months.

The striker said: “I’m very happy to be presented with this award and be recognised for my performances. It’s been a great team effort so I need to say a big thank you to the management team, my teammates and the fans.”

Bristow added: “It is fantastic for the club to win both awards and I am delighted for Chris Flood.

“It’s a fantastic achievement for him because he has started the season really well.”
