BASINGSTOKE Town Ladies were unable to end their season on a high, losing 6-1 at home to a strong Woodley United side on the final day of the campaign.

Home goalkeeper Erin Davis pulled off a fine save after just three minutes, while Sam Mosley was inches away from giving Town the lead soon after, her effort hitting the crossbar.

Davis then pulled off another fine save, but Woodley took control in the closing 15 minutes of the half, scoring three goals to hold a comfortable lead at the break.

They added three more in the first 20 minutes of the second period to put the game beyond doubt, though Sian Wylie did go close for the hosts.

Josette Pearmine was next to threaten for Town, firing narrowly over, and they did get a consolation goal with 12 minutes to go, Katie Randell firing home from the edge of the area.

Pearmine went close to adding a second in injury-time, but the result means that Town, who won the North Hants Cup, end the season sixth in the Southern League Premier Division table.
