Bring a friend with no strings attached
THIS week, it's "Bring-a-Buddy Week" at Totally Tennis, where junior development squad players are being offered the opportunity to take a friend to their regular tennis session to encourage them to have a go and try a new sport.
Until Friday, players in the Pirates, Indians, Dodgers and Giants squads can take a friend or sibling to try one session of tennis absolutely free of charge.
The concept, which has already proved very successful, was introduced by Totally Tennis' Jo Brett and is designed to encourage more children to get active and try something new that they may not have done before.
The idea complements the already successful activity days and schools development programme that promotes children being active and having a healthier lifestyle - trying a new tennis session could be the first step towards a more active routine.
Brett said: "Bring-a-Buddy week is now a permanent fixture on the development squad programme and we have found that our younger players really enjoy bringing someone along to get a taste of what they do and try something new.
"For parents, it's a way of their children trying a new activity, at no extra expense, and enjoying being with their friends."
