ODIHAM and Andover took the honours in the Basingstoke and District Tennis League’s under-16 and under-14 summer leagues.

In the under-16 league, newcomers Odiham saw off all challengers to remain unbeaten throughout the season and take the title. Their team of Tim MacPhee, Joe Michael, Charlie Flynn, Anthony Scregg, Jacob Patton and Antonia MacPhee chalked up impressive wins against Goodworth Clatford, Mortimer, Oakley, Preston Candover and Andover.

Andover won all their other matches to take the runners-up spot, while Goodworth Clatford had a mixed season, winning four of their nine matches to finish in third place.

Mortimer and Preston Candover had three and two wins respectively.

The Mortimer team, made up of Todd Robinson, Chris Harley, Caleb Hillyer and Leela Richardson, Ryan Belcher, Chris Langford, George Chaplin and Jamie Richardson, won at Preston Candover and Oakley 8-0, along with beating Goodworth Clatford 6-2.

The Preston Candover squad of Aimee Dowek, Georgina Delafield, Dan Walker-Arnott, Gianlucca Labagnara, Lucy Perkins, Jacob Thomas, Josie Hayden, Rowan Checketts, Alex Baker and William Chattel had good wins over Oakley and Goodworth Clatford.

The Oakley team, represented by Ryan Tarling, Chris Bradley, Adam Hood, Cory Schwee and Chris White, managed the only draw of the season with Preston Candover.

The inaugural under-14 league was won by Andover with five wins thanks to their squad of Anda Manole, Amy Macdonald, William Moon, Jack Mathias, Euan Mathias, Tom Lee, Tommy Mackie and Chris Gregory.

The only other team to record a win was Preston Candover with a 7-1 success against Goodworth Clatford. Their team of Jacob Thomas, Alex Baker, Gianlucca Labagnara and Tom Bradshaw also drew with Overton. Josh Fiske, Phoebe Rowe, Georgie Delafield and Dan Walker-Arnott also played for the Preston side.

The draw specialists were Overton with three – against Goodworth Clatford (twice) and Preston Candover. Their team of Ben Knight, Liam Hignett, Fred Harrison, Kirsty Attwell, Alex Goodall, Rebecca Pallister, Benjamin Barber and Matthew Cowperthwaite could not quite turn a draw into a win.

The Goodworth Clatford team had the two draws as mentioned. Their team was Simon Winchcombe, Nick Baughen, Kate Wiseman, Sarah Wiseman, Harry Freeman, Ben Goacher, Tabitha Vincent and Archie Cripwell.
