TOTALLY Tennis players David Munt, Emma Barnes and Andrew Ridgers were victorious in the Basingstoke and Deane Tennis League finals, winning the mixed and men’s crowns.

In the men’s doubles, former Totally Tennis coaches Munt and Ridgers won their group in convincing fashion, defeating Richard Mole and Andy Wallace from Preston Candover and Beechdown’s Hossam Ashraf and Darren Giddings 6-0, 6-0. Waverley’s Perveez Mirza and Paul Byrne and club teammates Spencer Ide and Rohan Caffey both gave the duo walkovers, so they progressed to finals day as group winners.

In the mixed doubles, Munt and partner Barnes beat Beechdown’s Hossam Ashraf and Andrea Butcher 7-5, 6-2 and Mark Swinscoe and Lucy Taylor from Overton in a tougher three-set match (6-3, 3-6, 7-6). Raheem Mirza and Kelsey Mosquera from Waverley conceded their match to give the pair three wins en route to finals day.

Oakley Tennis Club hosted this year’s finals day and Munt and Ridgers won the men’s event, beating Phil Dixon and Rob Still from Old Basing 6-4, 6-3.

In the mixed final, Munt and Barnes defeated Overton’s Zoe Taylor and Shaun McDonald 6-4, 6-0 to lift the trophy and bring two well-deserved pieces of silverware to the club.

Totally Tennis’ Emily Clark, who co-ordinates adult tennis at the club, said: “Many congratulations to Dave, Emma and Andrew on their fantastic wins at the local leagues finals day. It is a great achievement for them individually as well as the club and we are looking forward to displaying their trophies for everyone to see."
