BASINGSTOKE tennis ace Josh Goodall won his fifth AEGON Pro Series title last week in Glasgow.
The British number six, who turned 26 at the beginning of the tournament, beat his doubles partner at the event Richard Bloomfield 7-5, 6-3 in the opening round.
He then cruised past Swedish qualifier Viktor Stjern 6-1, 6-4 to set up a last eight clash with another qualifier, Andriej Kapas from Poland, who retired in the second set having not won a game.
The semi-final saw a titanic battle between Goodall and fellow Brit Dan Evans and after two-and-a-half hours he won 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 breaking Evans in the fourth game of the final set.
That set up a final against Czech Republic’s Jan Minar, who he beat in straight sets winning the first one 7-3 on the tie-break on his way to a 7-6, 7-5 success. In the doubles event, Goodall and Bloomfield made it through to the semi-finals, before losing to number three seeded and eventual winners Italian Fabio Colangelo and Marco Crugnola.
