BASINGSTOKE tennis star Josh Goodall enjoyed his third AEGON Pro-Series victory of the season at Wrexham recently as he beat fellow Brit Sean Thornley 6-1, 6-2 in the final.
The British number nine was impressive in the final, hardly missing a ball, to emerge a comfortable winner at the North Wales Regional Tennis Centre.
After the first two games went with serve Goodall made the breakthrough in the third game and went on to take the next four in a row to seal set one 6-1.
Again the second set started with both players holding until 2-2, when Goodall made the breakthrough and again reeled off four games in a row to take the match and the title.
Earlier in the event, Goodall, the number three seed, beat GB’s Ravi Patel 7-5, 6-2 in the first round.
He then enjoyed another straight seeds victory over Fares Ghasya from Libya 6-2, 6-4 and in the last eight beat number eight seed Marcus Willis 6-1, 6-3.
The Basingstoke-born player, who did not drop a set at the event, reached the final thanks to a victory over Frenchman Albano Olivetti 6-3, 6-4.
Goodall will now look for his fourth title in the series in the next event at the National Tennis Centre at Roehampton.
