IN ONE of the most open seasons in recent years the Basingstoke and District Tennis League Mixed Division One title is still wide open.
RSF A head the table but the chasing clubs are all closing in and second placed Preston Candover A moved to within a point after beating Totally Tennis A 5-3.
However, they did slip up at third placed Overton A 7-1 as Mark Swinscoe and Karen Ollive recorded a maximum. Overton will take the title if they win all their remaining matches.
Champions for the past four years, Old Basing A picked up their second win of the campaign with a 5-3 result against Goodworth Clatford A, but they need results to go in their favour to retain their crown.
Two teams Oakley A and Andover A continue to dominate Division Two with the title set to be decided when they meet.
Oakley beat Overton B 7-1, with another maximum coming from Paul Rattue and Julie Frankland, while Andover all but ended Beechdown A’s hopes of top spot beating them 6-2 thanks to a clean sheet from Claire Coomer and Andy Winnett.
The Beechdown B team of Sarah Deven/Paul Deed and Claire Munns/Dan Doherty saw off Hook A 8-0.
