TOTALLY Tennis Performance Player James Colpus won the Under 16 Boys’ Singles title at the Grade 4 Southampton Junior Open held at Totton and Eling Tennis Centre.
After a bye in his first match, Colpus beat Daniel Whitehead 6-0, 6-0 in their quarter-final encounter.
In the semi-finals Colpus defeated Lloyd Sampson 6-0, 6-0 followed by a 6-4, 6-2 win over Lucas Soler Littleales in the final to win the event.
Teammate Nicholas Dingwall had a bye in his first match and then lost in his quarter-final match against Sampson 6-2, 7-5.
In the Under-14 Boys’ Singles event Dingwall beat David Pearce 6-1, 6-1 and club teammate Chester Voysey defeated Sam Harris in the tiebreak in their three set battle 4-6, 6-1, 10-8.
Dingwall then beat Voysey 6-2, 6-4 but lost out in his quarter-final match against Gianpero Placidi 6-3, 6-4.
In the 12 and under Boys’ Singles Miles Bromilow had a bye in his first two matches in the elimination rounds, then he defeated Tom Shipton in the semi-final 7-5, 6-4 and won the elimination final beating Joe Powell 6-2, 6-1 and progressed through to the main draw stage.
He then lost to Ben Gannaway 6-4, 6-0.
