JOSH Goodall’s excellent run continued on the grass courts around Britain as he celebrated back-to-back singles victories in the AEGON GB Pro-Series, as hot on heels of victory at Ilkley came success at Frinton.

The Basingstoke-born player, seeded eight, beat top seed and fellow Brit Dan Evans 6-3, 6-2 in the final.

His closest match came in the semi-finals, which was a real battle against his doubles partner Chris Eaton, which was decided by two tie-breaks.

The first saw Goodall triumph 12-10 and the second one 7-5.

To reach the last four the Basingstoke player beat the number two seed Alexander Sadecky from Switzerland 6-1, 6-1, after enjoying success over fellow Brit George Coupland 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

As well as victory in the singles at Frinton, Goodall also reached the final of the doubles with Eaton, where they were beaten 7-5, 7-6 by French pair Julien Maes and Fabrice Martin.

To reach that stage they beat the Farquharson brothers Alexander and Tom who, having lost the first set 7-5, retired.

After that they beat fellow Brits George Coupland and Alex Golding 6-4, 7-6 and New Zealander Marvin Barker and Frenchman Albano Olivetti 7-6, 7-6.
