BASINGSTOKE tennis ace Josh Goodall’s chances of making it into the second week of Wimbledon were dashed on Friday afternoon, by a ruthless display by Mahesh Bhupathi and Max Mirnyi.
The beaten Men’s doubles finalists in 2003 saw off the all British pairing of Goodall and Jamie Delgado ranked some 240 places behind them 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.
The number four seeds took control of the first set as they broke Delgado’s first service game.
They repeated the trick in set two, but the Brits broke back in the next game, only for Delgado to lose his service again in game seven.
The final set saw Basingstoke-born Goodall maintain his 100 per cent record in service games.
However, Delgado was broken in the very first game of the set and in game eight Bhupathi saved two break points to take the victory.
