Odiham tennis player Ryan Golesworthy had a double triumph last month, winning two tournaments in the space of three days.

In both events, Golesworthy, who turned seven at the end of November, was playing up a level in Orange tournaments which are age rated nine and under.

Golesworthy attended the fourth Thornden Junior Open Mini Orange at Chandler’s Ford, where he beat Thornden-based player Henry Culpitt 3-1 in the final.

Two days later, the Odiham player’s second triumph came at Waterside Tennis Club.

Golesworthy came top of his box. He went on to win his semi-final match 4-2 against former Totally Tennis teammate Rohith Manikonda.

He then won in the final 4-1 against Harry Prisk from Totton and Eling tennis club. Golesworthy is the current Hampshire and Isle of Wight Mini Red county champion and was also selected to attend a LTA Talent ID camp.

Paul Hand, performance program manager at the David Lloyd Tennis Club, Southampton where Golesworthy attends coaching sessions, said: “Along with our other performance players Ryan has worked extremely hard during the season. To win two tournaments in three days is a big achievement.”
