ROB King and Paul Morgan won the Basingstoke and District League Men’s Veterans Doubles.

Despite several of the regular players not being able to attend there was still a very strong entry.

Group one was won by Dave Burrell (BDH) and Phil Hood (Oakley) who managed to win all their sets with three of the five sets being won 6-5.

In second place were Rex Groves and Tim Rice (Totally Tennis) who claimed that position by the one game from Darren Giddings and Simon Wood (Hampshire Court). Mark Hammond (Old Basing) and Neil Dainton (Totally Tennis) also did well winning three of their sets.

The group also included Malcolm McPhail and Tony Vanderslott (Waverley) and new players Geoff Eagles and Doug Taylor (Goodworth Clatford).

In group two, newcomers Rob King and Paul Morgan (Kintbury) comfortably won it with Paul Rattue and Kelvin Wilcox (Oakley) second with three wins.

A further point behind were Hoss Ashraf (Beechdown) and Hugo Riveros (Odiham) with Steve Grove and Tim Blockley (Preston Candover) in fourth place, with the group completed by Andy Wallace (BDH) and Richard Mole (Preston Candover).

The semi finals saw Burrell and Hood beat Wilcox and Rattue 6-3, while King and Morgan defeated Rice and Groves 6-2.
