TOTALLY TENNIS Mini Performance player Isla Hignett beat the two top seeds on her way to victory in the 12-and-under girls singles event at the South East Junior tournament at Weybridge Tennis Academy in Surrey.
Hignett had a bye in the quarter-finals and then defeated number one seed Georgia Lancaster in the semi-finals, winning 4-1, 5-4 after a 7-3 tie-break success in the second set.
The Totally Tennis player then won the final, beating second seed Parami Aye 4-1, 5-3.
Head coach James McIntosh, who coaches Hignett, said: “Isla did really well to win the Grade Five event at Weybridge last weekend.
“It was great that she was able to beat the number one and number two seeds, who both have a higher rating than her.”
McIntosh added: “Isla has been constantly improving all areas of her game during her lessons and hopefully this win will give her added confidence in future tournaments.”
