TOTALLY Tennis’s mini performance players enjoyed great success at the annual Grade 3 Hampshire and Isle of Wight Junior County Championships held at the Winchester Racquets and Fitness Club.

Top seed Kirsty Da Silva collected the silverware in the nine-and-under girls singles event after beating Ellen Mans 7-3, 7-4 in the final.

In the group stages, Da Silva won group A, beating Lizzie Scarborough in a three-set battle 5-7, 7-4, 7-0, then seeing off Totally Tennis club mate Melissa Toner 7-5, 7-5 and Gabrielle Gwilliam 7-2.

In the semi-final, Da Silva defeated Hannah Buzzard 7-5, 7-4.

Clubmate Amberly Chapman won the eight-and-under girls singles title after winning four of her matches. She beat Scarlett Doman 10-6, Liliya Hastings 10-6, Evangeline Howard 10-6 and Ruby Sky Allen 10-6. She lost to Lily Bebbington 10-3.

Fellow mini performance player Isla Hignett was runner-up in the 10-and-under girls singles by winning three of her four matches.

She beat clubmates Jasmin Bromilow and Tillie Reid 5-3, 4-2 and 2-4, 4-1, 1-0 respectively and Olivia Besant 4-0, 4-0, but lost to overall winner Rina Hayamizu 4-0, 4-0.

Bromilow finished third overall after beating Reid 4-1, 4-2 and Besant 4-0, 4-0 and Reid came fourth.

Totally Tennis head coach James McIntosh said: “Congratulations to all the girls for their fantastic achievements at the county championship. It’s great to see so many of our mini girls playing across the three age-group events.”

The Totally Tennis Performance male players were not going to be outshone by their mini clubmates at the same tournament, with Liam Hignett winning the 14-and-under boys singles, Miles Bromilow picking up the 16-and-under boys singles consolation title. Together they were the 14 and under boys doubles champions.

Hignett beat top seed Ryan Hutchinson in the final 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 to take the title.

In the second round, the Totally Tennis player beat clubmate Dylan Allenby-Ryan 6-0, 6-1. Allenby-Ryan had defeated Felix De Merode in his first round match 6-2, 6-2. In the quarter-final, Hignett saw off William Thompson 6-3, 6-3 followed by a win against sixth seed James Blair 6-2, 6-2 in the semi-finals, Bromilow defeated Noah Pennant 6-0, 6-0 in round two, but then lost to Hutchinson 6-4, 6-3.

Alex Dawson beat Gerthys Stoman in round one 6-0, 6-0 but then lost to the third seed Zizheng Jin 6-2, 6-1 in round two.

In the 14-and-under boys doubles, Hignett and Bromilow were top seeds and after a bye into the semi-finals they defeated Felix De Merode/ Samual Hunt 2-4, 4-2, 10-6 to clinch victory and a place in the final.

They won the title after beating second seeds James Blair/Joseph Henbury 4-1, 4-1 in the final.

In the 16-and-under boys singles, Dawson, Bromilow and Hignett were all competing. Hignett beat Harry Dunnett 6-0, 6-1 and then lost in the quarter-finals against top seed Austin Gwilliam 7-6, 6-0.

Hignett won his first round match against Gabriel Shea 6-4, 6-1 and also lost in the quarter-finals to third seed and eventual winner William Coward 6-0, 6-3. Bromilow lost in the first round to fourth seed Angus Mcdowall 7-5, 6-3 and then went on to win the consolation event, beating Jonathan Rawat 4-0, 4-1 and Mats Colling 4-1, 4-1.
