THE top three sides in recent years Old Basing, Andover and Kingsclere, have opened up a gap at the top of the Basingstoke and District Tennis League Men’s Division One, writes Richard Mole.

Old Basing A maintained their slender lead after two draws at Beechdown, while defending champions Andover A made it four straight wins with an 8-0 success at Goodworth Clatford A.

Kingsclere also secured a fourth straight win at Oakley A thanks to a maximum from Daniel Cole/Steve Mills.

Waverley A’s second win of the season came with a 6-2 result against Beechdown A.

Aldermaston A kept the lead in Division Two after a draw at Beechdown B.

Old Basing B moved up to second after a 6-2 success at Preston Candover and a draw at Winchester thanks to a maximum from Del Salter/Jamie Thomas.

Oakley A secured a 5-3 win at Goodworth Clatford B thanks to Ray Wilson/Sam Brill winning four sets.

Another pair to remain unbeaten were Charlie Carter/Richard Mole in Preston Candover’s 6-2 win at Goodworth Clatford B.

Winchester beat Andover B 5-3 and Kingsclere B drew at Oakley B.

Waverley B continued their unbeaten run and lead Division Three after a 6-2 success against BDH. Both Totally Tennis A and Odiham A are in hot pursuit after the Totally Tennis side beat Odiham A 7-1 and Odiham beat Hook 5-3.

A maximum from Eric McCann/Drew Robinson gave Overton B the points in a 6-2 win at BDH.

RSF B lead Division Four by three points and Totally Tennis B are up to third following their 7-1 win at Odiham B. Andover C won by the same scoreline at Sherborne.

The shock result of the year so far came in Ladies Division One as Goodworth Clatford won 6-2 to inflict the first defeat in two years on leaders Andover A.

Beechdown A moved up to third as Tina Wood/Clare Munns and Andrea Butcher/Emma Giddings helped them to an 8-0 win over Old Basing A.

Aldermaston A won their first points of the season thanks to 6-2 victories against RSF and Oakley.

Preston Candover A continue to lead Division Two after they beat Old Basing B 7-1, as Lindsay Beevers/Judith Mole were unbeaten, but they then went down 6-2 at Totally Tennis A as Emma Barnes/Meryll Paterson recorded a maximum for the home side.

Overton share the same number of points as the leaders after they won 7-1 against Old Basing B, with Zoe Taylor/Lucy Battersby winning all their sets.

Leahney Golesworthy and Sue Cockcroft were another pair to be unbeaten as Odiham beat Andover B 6-2, while Hook won 8-0 at Old Basing B.

Mortimer A and Winchester remain the top two in Division Three, while Mortimer B have moved up to third after a 6-2 win at Totally Tennis B, who in turn won 6-2 at Whitchurch.

Aldermaston B won their first matches with 7-1 successes against Mortimer B and Beech-down B, with Margaret Flemington teaming up with Helen Gould against Mortimer and Karen Bailey in the Beechdown match as she remained unbeaten.

Preston Candover B recorded their first win, a 5-3 result over Whitchurch.

The Mixed divisions are now slowly taking shape, with most teams having played at least a couple of matches each.

Old Basing A head Division One after beating Odiham A 8-0 and two draws against Overton A and Aldermaston A.

Phil Dixon/Lisa Allen won all their sets for the Old Basing team against Aldermaston and Joe Robinson and Lucy Battersby were unbeaten in the Overton match for the home side.

Champions Andover A started their title defence with two wins, beating Goodworth Clatford 6-2 and Beechdown A 7-1.

RSF A lead Division Two after an 8-0 result at Preston Candover B thanks to Chris Wise/Sandy Wyles and Shane Leather/Diana Lacey.

Overton B remain in second place after a 5-3 win against Totally Tennis A as Eric McCann/|Karen Ollive were unbeaten.

Oakley A enjoyed a 6-2 success at Overton B, with Paul Rattue/ Julie Frankland winning all their sets.

Emma Barnes/Matt Stiff and Duncan Walker/Aimee Paterson gave Totally Tennis A an 8-0 win at Preston Candover B.

Beechdown C won their fifth match of the season, 5-3 at Hook to maintain top spot in Division Three. Aldermaston B kept up the pressure on the leaders with a 7-1 result against Totally Tennis B, with Nigel and Karen Bailey winning all their sets.

Lesley Miotto and Jeremy Thatcher were unbeaten for Sherborne in their 6-2 win at Hook, while Totally Tennis B beat Beechdown B 5-3.

RSF B recorded another 8-0 result in Division Four to continue their dominance of the division.

Two other teams also won 8-0, with Phil Banfield/Aly Coughlan and Paul Ayres/Jane Freer helping Beechdown D overcome Odiham C and Sandra Harding/Mark Eastwood and Denise Palmer/ Jeremy Palmer doing the same for Mortimer B against Whitchurch.
