TOTALLY Tennis mini performance player Aaron Dawson won the Grade Five Wellington nine and under mixed singles, while teammate Tillie Reid finished fourth.

The event, which was held at Wellington Sports Club, in Berkshire, was spilt into two boxes in the initial stages.

Dawson, pictured right, won Box A, winning all four of his matches, defeating Finbar McGarvey 7-4, 8-6, Shay Raja 7-4, 8-6, Anjali Katcha 7-2, 7-2 and Lawrence Doe 7-0, 7-3.

In Box B, Reid won two matches, beating Purab Garg in three sets 7-3, 3-7, 7-4 and Kai Lennard Roberts 8-6, 7-3.

In the semi-finals, Dawson beat Reid 7-3, 7-1 and went on to win the event by defeating Xavier Mohindra in the final 9-7, 10-8.

In the third and fourth play-off match, Reid lost to McGarvey in a three-set battle 8-6, 13-15, 7-3.

A club spokesman said: “It is great to see two of our Mini Performance players doing so well in the tournament. It was a fantastic win for Aaron, who did not drop a set throughout the whole tournament.”

In other player news, brother and sister Miles and Jasmin Bromilow travelled up to Lancashire to compete in the City of Manchester Tournament, held at Manchester Tennis and Football Centre.

Jasmin did slightly better than big brother Miles, who lost in his first match against Nemiah Fletchman 4-1, 4-1.

After losing her first main draw match in the nine and under girls’ singles to Hannah Cunningham 7-2, 7-1, Jasmin beat Anna Jones 7-5, 7-2 in the Consolation event.

In her second match she lost to Hannah Tse in a three-set battle 7-5, 5-7, 8-6 and she was defeated again in the quarter-finals against Daniela Katara in another three-set encounter 2-7, 7-5, 7-3.
